Chopra Asks Shermer: Who Are You?

Deepak Chopra interviews Michael Shermer as part of his “soul profiles” series. Some of the questions include:

  • Who are you?
  • Do you have a life purpose?
  • Can you identify any peak experiences in your life?
  • Who are your heroes?
  • Do you believe in God?
  • Do you have a soul?
  • What does death mean to you?
  • Are you a noun or a verb?

  1. Mike says:

Well Cindy, you obviously know exactly how to interpret what Michael Shermer means. I do bow down to you, or rather I ought to say to You.

  2. Jack says:

@Cindy: Condescending attitude towards women? That’s some damning claim you’ve got there. Got any proof for that? [Oh geez! There I got being skeptical again.]

  3. cindy clark says:

From what I have seen of Mr Shermer, I am shocked by his arrogance and the condescending attitude he has toward Christians, especially women. Is this the best representative you have? I guess I don’t understand why you would spend so much time and effort fighting a belief that you feel has absolutely no substantial foundation.

  4. Justin says:

Maybe its confirmation bias, but Shermer seems to be the only one who admits to not knowing answers, or deferring to experts in the field. Chopra seems to be the one who thinks he knows everything and has all the answers and is absolutely certain about his assertions.

  5. Quinn says:

Mr. Shermer, can you share with the rest of us how you manage maintain your cool and remain respectful in these kinds of encounters?

    • C says:

Quinn and Justin- I concur. I was I had those qualities that Mr. Shermer possess. I don’t know how he does it. I wish more politicians and people on TV would just admit to not know the answer when they don’t know or defer to experts in the field. We also have many conservatives who think the experts are no more qualified than anyone else. They think Experts are some conspiracy.
