Sex Work, Ethics, and Evolutionary Psychology
About this episode:
A conversation with Brook Urick based on her exposé "Wink Wink Nudge Nudge: Sexual Exploits and Secrets from Inside a Sugar Daddy Website"
Brook Urick was a sugar baby turned PR spokesperson for SeekingArrangement (now Seeking.com)—until she uncovered the industry’s darkest secrets. She now warns that so-called “sugar daddy” websites are designed to protect predators through anonymity, luring young women into sex work under the guise of dating. Even worse, the company’s founder was arrested in a sting operation for attempting to have sex with a minor.
In her new book, Urick reveals the horrific details of systematic victimization, sex trafficking, fraud, and predatory behavior through the lens of both a sugar baby victim and as an internal employee at the company.
She’s now calling on the DOJ to investigate why these websites remain active despite laws such as FOSTA-SESTA passed in 2018 making them illegal.
